What is USPAP? USPAP is the abbreviation for; Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. USPAP is published and maintained by the Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) of the Appraisal Foundation, a non-governmental entity charged by Congress with promulgating appraisal standards.
USPAP is revised periodically, the most recent edition took effect Jan. 01, 2008.
The next edition will become effective Jan. 01, 2010.
Every appraiser is required by state law to be familiar with and follow the most recent (current), edition of USPAP. Continuing Education on this specific topic is required in Idaho to refresh the basics and become familiar with each set of new Advisory Opinions and all recent changes to USPAP. USPAP is considered the Bible of appraisal practice. USPAP is Federal Law and has been adopted in most states.
